DIE Electro Pop Sensation des Jahres 2007 ist zurück. Mit seinem Debütalbum „Three Cheers For The Newlydeads“ hatte das junge schwedische Duo mit viel ungestümer Energie, einem hohen Glamour-Faktor und unwiderstehlichen Ohrwurm-Songs die Herzen von Presse und Publikum im Sturm erobert. Die Nachfolge-EP „Morningstar In A Black Car“ dürfte wohl mindestens ebenso hohe Wogen schlagen. Yaz und Anders machen bei den neuen Hit-Songs nicht den Fehler, stur das Erfolgsrezept des Debütalbums zu kopieren, sondern entwickeln ihren vielseitigen Sound stetig weiter. Wer denkt, elektronische Musik sei ganz und gar nicht sexy, wird sich von dem schwedischen Boy-meets-Girl-Duo, Ashbury Heights, schnell eines Besseren belehren lassen müssen. Denn die beiden lassen den unterkühlten Sex der frühen New Wave auf die Schrillheit des Glam, den ungestümen Charme des Electro Clash, und ein warm und fett daher blubberndes, analoges Synthesizerfundament treffen. Auch optisch wissen Mr. und Mrs. Ashbury zu gefallen und bieten in ihrer stilisierten, androgynen Verruchtheit die ideale Projektionsfläche für weibliche-, wie männliche Obsessionsphantasien.

Die Musik versprüht die gleiche Mischung aus unbändiger Energie und unendlicher Abgeklärtheit, die wir seit den Anfangszeiten von New Wave und Future Music so vermisst haben. Wenn die frühen Human League im Hier und Jetzt mit dem Glam des Thin White Duke und der Coolness der Tubeway Army auf die Abgefucktheit des Electro Clash treffen, dann bringt das jeden Club zum Rocken. Da ist es wahrlich kaum zu glauben, dass das Duo, das aus Sundsvall, einer Kleinstadt im nördlichen Schweden, stammt, erst seit November 2005 zusammen musiziert, so perfekt harmoniert dieser Molotov-Cocktail aus Elektronik, Disco-Pop und einer Prise Irrsinn. Anders und Yasmine, wie die beiden im wirklichen Leben heißen, sind auch erst 24, respektive 18 Jahre jung. Mr. Ashbury erklärt uns das so: "ich mache bereits seit 1997 elektronische Musik in verschiedenen Projekten. Yasmine war noch nie in einer Band... für sie ist das also alles Neuland, während ich, damit verglichen, schon fast ein Veteran bin. Ich glaube, dass es gerade diese Mischung ist, die unseren Sound so besonders macht."

Auf jeden Fall haben es die beiden geschafft, uns auf Anhieb so zu begeistern, dass wir sie binnen einer Stunde gesignt haben... das mit Abstand schnellste Signing in der Geschichte von Out of Line. Glaubt uns... Ashbury Heights werden auch euch hinweg fegen! Am Debütalbum wird gerade mit Hochdruck gearbeitet...

In case you belong to the type of people that believe that electronic music and sex appeal are two things that will never go together ... we promise you that Swedish boy-meets-girl duo Ashbury Heights will easily convince you of the contrary. The two effectively mingle the cool erotica of early New Wave with the shrill attitude of Glam, the raw appeal of Electro Clash and a foundation of warm and seriously FAT analogue synths. Mr. and Mrs. Ashbury also know how to appeal to the eye and, with their positively sleazy androginous chic, offer a perfect projection screen for obsessive male and female fantasies.

Rather fittingly, the music emanates the same kind of aura - a combination of youthful energy and the coolness of experience - that we have not heard since the early days of New Wave and Future Music. If the early Human League were to suck up the Thin White Duke´s Glam, the coolness of the Tubeway Army and cheap raunchiness of Electro Clash to produce music in the here and now of today ... they would sound like Ashbury Heights. This is music bound to rock the dancefloor of any old club. It is hardly believable that the duo from Sundsvall, a little town in the North of Sweden, have only been making music together since November 2005... as this sonic grenade of Electro, Disco Pop and a little bit of madness hits the spot just right. Furthermore, Anders and Yasmine, as the two are called in real life, are only 24 and 18 years old - it is hardly believable that such young people could achieve such sophistication. Anders tries to explain it like this: "I have been making electronic music in different projects since 1997, while Yasmine has never been in a band. This means that, compared to her, I am almost a veteran, while she approaches this whole thing with the freshness and energy of an eager novice. This is probably the reason why the music we make sounds so special."

Well... it is needless to say that these two have managed to hit the spot with us. We were so overwhelmed by their music that we signed them an hour after first listening to their CDs ... the fastest signing on Out of Line ever! Believe us ...
